Defining Dojo
A “dojo” is defined as a school for training, practicing, and mastering various arts. Traditionally, this referred to a hall where various martial arts, such as judo or karate, were practiced. The dojo was commonly known as a community consisting of students coming together with the common purpose of bettering themselves. These dojos centered around various character-building values such as respect, confidence, goal-setting, patience, and self-discipline. We applied these same principles at the Dojo Academy by creating a place where our students can practice their chosen form of art while learning key values that would contribute to their success and overall development as an individual.
